The 17,000 Eket Ultra modern sports stadium is to be inaugurated before May next year. Governor Udom Emmanuel dropped the hint during an inspection visit to the site of the facility.
He expressed satisfaction at the pace of work done so far, and applauded the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the workers on their commitment to the execution of the seventeen thousand capacity stadium.
Mr Emmanuel said that the old Infrastructure of the Eket township stadium was left untouched and wondered how people could subject themselves to cheap blackmail that the stadium was merely undergoing renovation.
The Governor thanked the people for their cooperation with the firm handling of the project.
The Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Mr Monday Ebong Uko who conducted the state Governor around the facility explained that the stadium project started in September 15th last year and is nearly completed.
He thanked the Governor for his foresight in the development of sports and provision of landmark infrastructure.
The Commissioner also expressed appreciation to the host community for their cooperation, stressing that the project which is a direct intervention from the state government draws it’s workforce from the community and thanked the Governor for not playing politics with projects
